Senior Electrical Engineer


Our client a client a high potential medical device startup who are directly involved in the design and development of innovative products are seeking a Senior Electrical engineer to join their team. Senior Electrical Engineer will focus on all stages of the product development process from conceptual generation through to commercialisation of cutting edge medical devices. Reporting to R&D Manager this is an exciting opportunity to get involved in a highly innovative and rapidly growing world of therapeutic devices, with ample developmental opportunities to progress to higher level technical roles in the organization.


Role/Responsibilities:·

  • Contribute to developing products for use in minimally invasive therapeutic procedures as defined/required by the business needs of the company.
  • Interfacing with team members to optimise the design and safety of the product by providing technical input to the team.
  • Provide novel product design and development engineering support and input to research and development projects.
  • Design of concepts and prototypes in advance of selecting the most promising solution. · Implement technologies to provide the optimum design solution.
  • Plan and track elements of product development, new product introductions and technology transfers, ensuring adherence to project timelines.
  • Develop and maintain product development and innovation processes and procedures incorporating industry best practices and in compliance with appropriate regulatory requirements.
  • Develop state-of-the-art understanding of relevant products and processes.
  • Develop product and test specifications. Perform engineering calculations and analyses. · Serve as department technical resource in any area of expertise.
  • Proactively identify areas where process and product improvements can be made. Develop predictive engineering tools, techniques and approaches in order to enhance the product development process.
  • Develop product and test specifications. Perform engineering calculations and analyses; this would include the development of the hardware and embedded software, in compliance with IEC 62304, 60601 & 14971.
  • Work with internal team members to explore new technologies, assess in terms of performance, cost and reliability.

Skills & Experience:
  • Degree level 8 in Engineering or related discipline with 5 years+ relevant experience – additional relevant qualifications may be advantageous
  • Experienced with electrical medical device product development
  • Ideally experienced designing RF systems, including PCB design and RF simulation tools (COMSOL).
  • Provides creativity while solving complex problems without known solutions.
  • Works on multiple projects in a deadline driven environment.
  • Designs, runs, and gathers data for experiments. Participates in the design of new test methods and procedures.
  • Self-starting, self-motivated, self-directed, and self-sufficient.
  • Thinks critically and makes sound decisions.
  • Collaborates and creates alignment as a team member.
  • Experience and knowledge in designing, verifying, optimizing the processes within the organization to guarantee the compliance
  • Experience with statistical techniques (DOE, Six Sigma)
  • Knowledge of regulatory standards and design control systems desirable but not essential.
  • Manages with transparency
