Our client a Galway based medical device start up company are currently seeking a Director of Operations to join their team. Reporting to CTO the Director of Operations will lead and execute the manufacturing, scaleup, supply and distribution strategy that supports business objectives. This role requires a high level of innovative thought and strategic planning capability.


• Lead the development and execution of a strategy to scale the supply, manufacturing, and distribution of products

• Be a strong team leader with a pragmatic approach to getting the best out of the operations team • Managing the technical and operational delivery of all suppliers, outsourced and in-house sites

• Responsible for leading technical transfers for manufacturing

• Overseeing product storage, handling and distribution

• Identify and select new or alternative manufacturing partners

• Identify cost savings and efficiencies and develop and maintain strategic vendor partnerships

• Ensuring effective supplier management, from the procurement of raw materials to the manufacturing of product with third-party manufacturers

• Ensure the highest possible quality product by establishing and adhering to applicable standards

• Provide ongoing strategic input to ensure R&D programs align with longer term operational objectives.

• Build and nurture trust with teams, customers, and external suppliers.


• A university Degree or Master’s in Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent qualification.

• Ability to motivate and lead a team

• Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills

• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills

• Minimum 15 years’ experience in the medical device space with hands on technical and operational management experience.

• Prior experience in selecting and overseeing Manufacturing with a Contract Manufacturer.

• Experience overseeing technical output with contract manufacturer in the Medical Device space.

• Successful experience in leading manufacturing in a rapid-growth environment.

• Team player with strong communication, enthusiasm, and interpersonal skills.

• Extensive medical device and sterile manufacturing experience.

• Extensive technical transfer and manufacturing process development experience
